El Centro Trailhead closureGood news everyone, the Sausal Creek Erosion Control Project (3 sites) will be starting VERY soon. While the planning, funding, and permitting has taken several years, the construction will only take 3-4 months before winter arrives.

Rainwater runoff from Park Boulevard and Oakmore Road has been cutting into the slopes below neighboring homes, creating gullies and filling the creek with sediment (poor trout!). The project focuses on three storm drain outlets that flow into Sausal Creek above El Centro Avenue. The work will slow winter rain runoff, stabilize slopes, reduce erosion, and enhance habitat for the creek’s native rainbow trout.

But don't worry, we have more than 3,000 native plants and trees in our nursery waiting to revegetate the hillsides.

Stay tuned for volunteer opportunities! See the attached for more details or visit www.sausalcreek.org.
